The city was planned by French architect Le Corbusier and was the dream city of Jawaharlal Nehru.

Chandigarh, with its blooming natural beauty is home to a number of gardens and lakes. Must-visit in Chandigarh is the Rock Garden, a forty acre sculptured garden, with images built of rocks and broken bits of bangles. Another popular picnic spot in Chandigarh is the Sukhna Lake, an artificial reservoir with a jogging track, boating options, a cafeteria, shops and a mini-amusement park. Chandigarh also houses the large Rose Garden, which has over a hundred different varieties of roses. This garden in Chandigarh also hosts the annual Rose Festival, which is attended by large number of tourists. The Pinjore Gardens, a fascinating Mughal Garden is yet another tourist attraction in Chandigarh. With the majestic Sivaliks as its backdrop the garden is a major tourist attraction. Other gardens which adorn the city are the Leisure Valley, Rajendra Park, Bouganvillea Garden, Hibiscus Garden and Shanti Kunj.

Chandigarh, with its architectural wonders is home to some wonderful structures. The Capitol Complex is worth visiting when in Chandigarh, though one needs permission to visit the buildings. Three buildings of the Capitol Complex which should not be missed are the Secretariat, the High Court and the Assembly.

Chandigarh has a lot for art lovers also. The Government Museum and Art Gallery has a fine collection of sculptures of the Buddhist period from the Gandhara School. Some miniature paintings and prehistoric fossil remains are also displayed there. The Museum of Evolution of Life puts on display the transition of civilization from the Indus valley civilization to the present day. The International Dolls museum has on its shelves an impressive collection of dolls and puppets from all around the world.

Fun and amusement is a part of Chandigarh as the city has a lot to offer. Fun City and Thunderzone are two of the city’s most famous amusement and water parks which should be visited for a day full of excitement and fun. Plush shopping malls also dot the city of Chandigarh. These are mainly concentrated in Sector 17 which makes this place the most happening in Chandigarh with its concentration of shopping areas and food joints.

Most hotels in Chandigarh are located in and around major tourist spots. They range from budget to luxury and offer amenities and facilities of a wide range. Most of Chandigarh hotels even offer travel assistance. The hotels in Chandigarh range across all budgets, and no matter when you travel, it is never too difficult to find a hotel in Chandigarh.
