The Partnership for Disability Issues to Discuss Safety Issues to prevent further Fatalities

PRLog (Press Release) – Jul 05, 2008 – The Carbondale Civic Center will be the site of the next meeting of the Partnership for Disability Issues in Carbondale. The meeting will be held July 8 at 1:30 p.m. in room 112.
    The meeting will be attended by members of the disabled population, as well as representatives of various service organizations, providers, caretakers, representatives of law enforcement as well as city employees and those just interested in disabled issues. Other people are encouraged to attend and make their needs known.
    First created by former- Mayor Dillard, The Partnership serves as a liaison between the city and the disabled population and to bring about the resolution of a any disability topic for a citizen.
    Special topics to be discussed will be safety issues. Recent events have dictated even more urgency for increased safety awareness. Also to be covered, White Cane Day, sidewalk accessibility, and proposed changes to the Americans with Disabilities Act.
    Suzanne Gorrell, President of the Partnership for Disability Issues said ”There have been a couple of fatalities, we don’t want more, therefore safety issues are important right now.”.
