FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Jul 04, 2008 – New pet information service for you and your pet living in Spain

Lack of reliable information has always been a problem for pet owners living abroad, especially in Spain, where rules and regulations are constantly changing.

A new website, Pets in Spain (www.pets-in-spain.com), pulls together up to date information from various sources to consolidate knowledge and advice. Owner of Pets in Spain is Emma Hartley, who has lived in southern Spain herself for over 4 years. She says, "I had so many problems when I first brought my dog out here. The language, of course, but also the rules and regulations regarding my pet. It was all very confusing."

She also discovered that there are animal diseases prevelant in Spain that owners should be aware of. One such illness is Leishmania, which is given to the dog by an infected sandfly bite. It is a terrible disease affecting the immune system. Prevention measures should be taken on arriving in Spain and the dog should be regularly blood tested, to ascertain if it is infected. Treatment is possible these days but must be given early and regularly.

For worried and confused pet owners there is also a free "Ask the Vet?" service, which has been set in in conjuction with some local vets. Advice can be sought and received.

"There are plenty of internet sources around, but most center on getting you and your pet travelling to Spain. There is not a lot on the actual buisness of living here with your pet." says, Emma. She hopes that the new website will help owners and their pets settle down to their new home in Spain.
