The company has announced that those buying the revised version of its iMac desktops can expect the machines to be equipped with Intel Core 2 Duo processing power.
It is reported that this is the most powerful the iMac has ever been and the graphics offered by the stylish machine have also been given a boost on the range.
Commenting on the improvements, Apple's senior vice president of worldwide product marketing, Philip Schiller, said now is a great time to buy an iMac.
"With the latest Intel processors, a faster new graphics option and more memory, customers now have even more reasons to love the iMac," he said.
According to TechRadar, PCs are a more affordable option for home computer users although the iMac excels in "design and desirability"
"A commodity that deserts all but a handful of PCs," the site adds.
