Peak District farmers Roy and Karen have launched their range of guanaco fibre shawls, yarn and fibre available online through their website www.heathylee.co.uk. Guanaco are an endangered wild ancester of the llama and are now being farmed by this enterprising couple on their 200 acre hill farm. The luxurious, precious fibre obtained from these animals is finer than cashmere and 3 times warmer than wool and customers can be assured that due to it's scarcity, guanaco fibre products will never be available on the high street. A real luxury with eco-friendly credentials too !
The guanaco have adapted well to the farm situated at 1200 ft above sea level and mix in with the other livestock, pigs, sheep, cows and chickens.
