The town itself is divided into two sections by a street called Rambla de Belén. It is on this street where you will find various shops and restaurants. Depending on your interests, you can visit the old section of the city, the new section of the city or both. The old section is where you will find many tourist attractions, old churches and the Alcazaba, which is one of the last remaining Moorish structures in Spain.
Other sightseeing attractions include:
• The Cathedral of Almeria
• The Diocesan Museum
• Los Aljibes – Arab wells
• Temple of San Juan, built on ruins of a Moslem mosque
• Basílica de Nuestra Señora del Mar
These attractions can teach you much about the early history of Almeria and of Spain as well.
During the evening, there are many restaurants, bars and other places where you will be able to find a meal and entertainment. Like many cities in Spain, the evening meal is served later in the evening so people can relax and spend time with family and friends. It is not uncommon to stay out until the 1 or 2am.
