World HVAC Equipment Forecasts for 2012 & 2017

World HVAC demand will exceed $70 billion in 2012.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Jul 03, 2008 – World HVAC demand will exceed $70 billion in 2012. World demand for HVAC equipent is projected to rise more than five percent per year through 2012, exceeding $70 billion. Demand in the Asia/Pacific region will outpace the global average, rising more than six percent annually through 2012.The US, China and Japan are the largest producers of HVAC equipment. China has grown into a leading supplier of HVAC equipment, due to its inexpensive labor pool, which has made pricing of Chinese goods especially competitive. China has become a major producer in the room air conditioner segment, exporting products to the US, Western Europe and throughout Asia.

Asia/Pacific, Africa/Mideast to lead regional gains

China will be the fastest growing national market, benefitting from above-average urban population growth and healthy gains in the number of households, as well as rising income levels. Above-average growth will also occur in India due to solid gains in thenumber of households and rising per capita incomes. The other developing countries of Asia and Africa/Mideast will also post strong gains, reflecting rising standards of living in the regions. Opportunities will also exist indeveloped regions. Demand in the US, for example, will exhibit recovery by 2012 after a period of sluggishness resulting from the housing crisis. Gains will also exist in Western Europe, as air conditioning becomes more common in residential buildings.

Room, window-type air conditioners to pace cooling equipment growth

Among product types, cooling equipment will continue to outpace heating equipment gains through 2012. This is due to the lower penetration rates of air conditioning equipment. Low ownership rates in Western Europe (relative to other industrialized nations such as the US and Japan) will present growth opportunities. Among products, room air conditioners will post strong gains. Rising income levels in Asia, especially China, will bolster demand in windowtype air conditioners.

Study coverage

These and other findings are analyzed in World HVAC Equipment, the new industry study available for $5600. It presents historical data (1997, 2002, 2007) plus forecasts (2012, 2017) for supply and demand by product in six regions and 20 countries. This study also examines market environment factors, evaluates market share data and profiles 28 global industry competitors.
