Asia/Pacific, Africa/Mideast to lead regional gains
China will be the fastest growing national market, benefitting from above-average urban population growth and healthy gains in the number of households, as well as rising income levels. Above-average growth will also occur in India due to solid gains in thenumber of households and rising per capita incomes. The other developing countries of Asia and Africa/Mideast will also post strong gains, reflecting rising standards of living in the regions. Opportunities will also exist indeveloped regions. Demand in the US, for example, will exhibit recovery by 2012 after a period of sluggishness resulting from the housing crisis. Gains will also exist in Western Europe, as air conditioning becomes more common in residential buildings.
Room, window-type air conditioners to pace cooling equipment growth
Among product types, cooling equipment will continue to outpace heating equipment gains through 2012. This is due to the lower penetration rates of air conditioning equipment. Low ownership rates in Western Europe (relative to other industrialized nations such as the US and Japan) will present growth opportunities. Among products, room air conditioners will post strong gains. Rising income levels in Asia, especially China, will bolster demand in windowtype air conditioners.
