San Francisco, CA
The San Francisco Chapter of eWomenNetwork has announced Isabel Rasmussen as the recipient of the chapter's 2008 Emerging Leader award. The eWomenNetwork Foundation Emerging Leader Program provides this recognition through fundraising by the chapter.
Founder of Serenity Consulting, Rasmussen is a marketing and green consultant who works with body, mind, and soul service providers. Her objective is to provide these service providers tools and resources to grow their business.
Ann Evanston, Managing Director of the San Francisco Chapter of eWomenNetwork states "From the moment I met Isabel, I knew that she was not just an emerging leader--she had emerged! She is loving, talented, and brilliant. I am honored that the San Francisco Chapter has decided to support such an amazing woman in the next steps of her life.”
Rasmussen, who has a B.A. in Women Studies from the University of Washington and is a candidate for a Green MBA at Dominican University, is also a Domestic Violence Advocate and tireless volunteer. One of her most memorable assignments was a summer teaching English to children in West Africa.
She has also been a community organizer in the Tenderloin area of San Francisco where she organized the “TL Kids for Safety Parade” involving over 300 children marching for safety in their neighborhood.
“It is not okay that 95% of the community stay locked up and afraid in their homes while a small group of people take over the streets. I wanted an opportunity for these children to be seen and heard by all of San Francisco”, says Rasmussen.
The eWomenNetwork Foundation Emerging Leader Program reaches out to young women who demonstrate excellence in academics, entrepreneurship, and philanthropy. The program recognizes young women for their accomplishments and commitment to giving back as it relates to their professional pursuits.
According to Rasmussen, “Three months ago, I planned to go to an eWomenNetwork introduction because of a listing on Craigslist. When Ann Evanston shared about eWomenNetwork supporting women by asking members to spend their money in women-owned businesses, I knew I was in the right place. Since that first meeting I went from having a business idea to launching a marketing consulting practice for holistic healers. I obtained my first three clients through eWomenNetwork events. Upon being awarded the SF Chapter Emerging Leader, amazing women have entered my life and offered invaluable business advice.
My Green MBA in holistic health at Dominican University is providing me with education and knowledge, but I also need a network of women I can do business with and learn from so that I can be successful. I find that eWomenNetwork is enabling me to move from ideas into action.”
As part of the award, Rasmussen has an all expenses paid trip to attend the annual eWomenNetwork International Conference and Business Expo in Dallas Texas July 10-13, 2008. 57 women from San Francisco will be attending.
