CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta’s “Puerto Vallarta Green” is taking action by instituting hotel-wide programs that save energy, water and paper. The resort carries out reuse linen and towel programs for guests staying multiple nights, recycles rain water for garden irrigation, provides menus on-line to save paper, and recycles aluminum, iron and engine oil.
In efforts to contribute to Puerto Vallarta’s economy, CasaMagna Marriott uses local brands of bottled water, wine and cheese. For meeting attendees looking for a more hands-on option to help save the environment, CasaMagna Marriott offers meeting groups the opportunity to plant a tree at the end of their retreat. Tree planting is a bonding experience and business people will work together during the tree planting process.
Meeting groups are also encouraged to step away from their work and take part in a unique educational, and eco-friendly vacation experience through its “Secretos del Mar” Sea Turtle Rescue Program. During June through December breeding season, guests are encouraged to help in combing the beach so the mother turtles have a groomed surface on which to lay their eggs. Eggs are harvested and placed in a protected area for incubation. Approximately 45 days later, the hatchlings emerge from the sand and are ready to be released on the beach, with the aid of the recreational staff and the resort guests.
