PR Log (Press Release)Jun 30, 2008 – Cancer surgeons of Mumbai are now being approached by abroad medical cases to get an outpatient breast cancer surgery in India. International medical institutes dealing with cure of breast cancer has included cities of Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and Hyderabad as recommended places for getting risk free, safe and minimally invasive breast cancer surgery in India at a less and economical budget. So this arrangement can help patients from outside India who want to get cured of breast cancer disorder with breast cancer surgery in India.

The main purpose of breast cancer surgery is to remove localized cancer (cancer that hasn't spread to other areas of the body) by removing the cancer tumor cells that has orignated in the breast tissues. Most women having breast cancer require breast cancer surgery Operations for for breast cancer surgery include breast-conserving surgery, mastectomy, and axillary (armpit) lymph node sampling and removal. In breast cancer surgery, only a part of the affected breast is removed. If radiation therapy is to be given after surgery, small metallic clips (which will show up on x-rays) may be placed inside the breast during surgery to mark the area for the radiation treatments. Breast cancer surgery is now being done chiefly by two methods lumpectomy and mastectomy. In lumpectomy only the breast lump and a surrounding margin of normal tissue is removed. If the pathologist finds there is cancer at the edge (margin) of the piece of tissue removed by lumpectomy, the surgeon may need to remove additional breast tissue. This operation is called a re-excision. Radiation therapy is often performed after the procedure of lumpectomy. In procedure of mastectomy the surgeon removes the entire breast, including the nipple, but does not remove underarm lymph nodes or muscle tissue from beneath the breast. Sometimes this is done for both breasts. Mastectomy is done when is done as preventive surgery in women at very high risk for breast cancer.
