Rock music is alive and well in the Northwest with fresh rock bands taking center stage, building great fan bases, and distributing awesome music to stores on a national level. Jericho, a Seattle based rock band, serves as a perfect case in point for the northwest trend setting the rock genre side of the music industry.
The incomparable Andrew Southwick, lead singer and originator of Jericho, is set out to take the rock industry over by storm. Already with requests for Jericho’s hit song “Letdown” on some Seattle based radio stations, Southwick continues to build his bands “business plan” for an effective 2008 and an even larger 2009 through establishing the basics one step at a time.
“There are no original ideas, no master plans, or enlightened insights. What sets me apart, and hopefully what sets Jericho apart, is that I decided what I’m doing, and I’m doing it,” says Southwick.
One of Southwick’s major accomplishments towards the continual growth of Jericho was with the alliance of an innovative artist development agency that shared his vision of Jericho. After contacting Alonce Music Agency, who is a very selective international firm based in Philadelphia, Southwick waited in anticipation as Jericho moved rapidly through a rigorous submission process.
“We have spent a lot of time developing a name for Alonce Music Agency, so we have to be very tuff with our submission process and when we saw the potential of Jericho’s success a very rare unanimous decision was made to become part of Jericho’s future,” says Donovan, a senior account executive with Alonce Music Agency.
Jericho’s greatest strength lies within their versatility, particularly with their influences ranging from Lenny Kravitz and Matchbox 20 to Paul Simon and Bob Dylan. Fans have commented on them being capable of everything from lighting it up on stage for a straight ahead rock show to listeners grabbing a seat in preparation for a skilled and thoughtful acoustic presentation. Jericho is unquestionably no exception and is currently taking their finely crafted brand of Indie Rock to venues all across America. “I read on Alonce’s (Alonce Music Agency) web page that fewer than 1% of artists actually carve a career out of music. While there are plenty of good reasons to quit, I can’t think of one!” says Southwick.
