Dr. Karin M. Hehenberger earned a Ph.D. in molecular biology, with a focus on diabetes, from Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, one of Europe's largest medical universities. After her clinical internship, she worked as a Juvenile Diabetes Foundation postdoctoral fellow at the Joslin Diabetes Center, Harvard Medical School, continuing her research in the field of diabetes and its complications. Dr. Hehenberger then accepted a position as a biopharmaceutical equity analyst for Galleon Management, Brummer & Partners. Dr. Hehenberger then worked as a management consultant in the healthcare practice of McKinsey & Co. and in 2003, joined Eyetech Pharmaceuticals as a senior director of scientific and external affairs where she helped transform the company from a small privately owned entity into a publicly traded corporation with an FDA-approved drug, which was launched on the US market in January of 2005. In February of 2008, Dr. Hehenberger was offered and accepted a position as vice president of metabolic strategies with Johnson & Johnson, a leading American manufacturer of pharmaceuticals, medical devices and consumer packaged products since 1886. In this capacity, she is responsible for developing the metabolic strategies for products and research related to Diabetes, obesity and cardio-vascular conditions. Dr. Hehenberger shares her expertise in these fields with several industry affiliations and holds a position on the boards of the S.M.A. and A.D.A. She is equally ambitious with regard to altruistic undertakings and maintains an active agenda of service to the community and volunteer work. In her spare time, she enjoys playing tennis, skiing, sports, listening to music, going to the movies and attending the theater.
