Queen City Prep's Summer Basketball Camps kicked off to a very good and exciting start! The campers had the opportunity to learn some high level basketball handling techniques from And 1 Streetballer "Alimoe" aka "The Black Widow" during the camp session on Wednesday, June 18, 2008. Alimoe, whose real name is Tyrone Evans, is one of the most famous street basketball players around. He gained fame unleashing flashy yet effective moves at Ruckers Park, and was a member of the traveling And 1 Streetball Mix Tape Tour Volumes 5, 6, 7 and 8. He can also be seen in other works such as Skip vs Alimoe Battle Tape, And 1 Ball Access and And 1 Asia/Pacific.
"It is always a pleasure working with the kids. It is something that I really enjoy doing. I would like to thank Queen City Prep and Coach Tony Taylor for bringing me down to talk to and provide ball handling demonstrations to the campers at the Summer Basketball Camp. I look forward to future endeavors with Queen City Prep," said Alimoe aka The Black Widow.
The Summer Basketball Camps run through August 8, 2008 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The camps are held at the Naomi Drenan Recreation Center, 750 Beal St., Charlotte, North Carolina 28211. The basketball camp is open to both boys and girls ages 6 to 15 and costs $50 per week per camper. Daily snacks and lunch is provided to each camper. The basketball camps have a unique focus of teaching basic fundamentals and various drills and techniques. Campers learn basketball handling skills through intensive ball control drills and then build on their superior ball handling skills by learning quick moves off the dribble. Each camp session provides a mix of physical activity, practice, instruction, life skills, and fun! There are also outdoor activities.
