The service launched today by Lingtastic.com is initially in only 3 languages. Russian, Spanish and Portuguese (Brazilian) but will be expanded quickly to other languages. The service has also been successfully tested using ideogram based languages like Chinese as well as other non alpha languages like Thai.
This follows closely on last weeks launch of Web to SMS translation where most messages can be sent for under $1 to any SMS capable phone in the World. This includes the cost of translation and the sending of the message through the telecommunications network. However as some languages like Russian and Chinese use more of the available SMS message and can incur greater telecom costs.
Lingtastic.com already provides its users with instant access to a professional live interpreter no matter where in the world they may be.
