North Carolina Education Ball to be Featured on ABC11

Thirty minute special to highlight work of CISNC

PRLog (Press Release)Jun 26, 2008 – The 2008 North Carolina Education Ball held in Raleigh on June 7 will be featured on ABC 11 on Saturday June 28 at 7:00 p.m.  The half-hour program will highlight the work of Communities In Schools of NC (CISNC) as well as parts of the Education Ball. ABC11 is the official Media Sponsor of the North Carolina Education Ball and anchors Barbara Gibbs and John Clark served as emcees for the evening event, which is attended by business, education and political leaders from across the state.

The special will include interviews with Linda Harrill, President and Chief Executive Officer of CISNC, as well as with June Atkinson, State Superintendent of Public Instruction. It will also highlight profiles of some of the successful Communities In Schools programs that are underway in North Carolina communities. In addition, recipients of the H. Glenn Williams Power of One Awards will be featured, including: Anne Laukaitis of Cabarrus County, Kathleen Byron of Moore County, and IBM.

“Communities In Schools of North Carolina is so appreciative to ABC11 for once again teaming with us to produce this special and share our story with their viewers,” said Harrill. “We want viewers to have the chance to witness first hand the work of Communities In Schools as well as to become more informed about the programs here in North Carolina.”

Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club served as the presenting sponsor for the 2008 NC Education Ball which was held at the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts in Raleigh. The purpose of the event was to celebrate the individuals who put forth much of their time and effort to improve the educational experience of the students of North Carolina as well as to highlight educational advancements in communities across the state.
