With overnights in forest cabins and a back pack full of artist brushes the Northern Edge Algonquin has been proudly combining adventure elements with retreat elements for years. The end result is what they uniquely call "Adventure Retreats".
Unique to the 15 year old company, this combination of seemingly opposing and incompatible elements is a formula for Ontario vacations that has proved a success year after year. As Todd Lucier, one the co-founders says "Like a trendy pair of mismatched flip-flops, we combine retreat and adventure elements into popular vacation experiences. Then we send our participants into Algonquin Provincial Park where, it turns out the combination provides a one of a kind experience."
Summer 2008 will see their creativity put to the test one more time. This season Northern Edge Algonquin is featuring an array of "Adventure Retreats", all of which will be hosted in the interior of Algonquin Park. Beginning at the solar powered Nature Retreat Centre, guests arrive to a home cooked-gourmet meal featuring locally grown elements. Canoe lessons and inevitably some repacking commences. Often those taking part in Adventure Retreats are novices, but the staff do an excellent job of tending to all skill levels.
