Cheeky Dunking - what is your favourite?

Choice of dunker is a personal thing and many a heated debate has broken out over the hot drinks machine as to which is best.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Jun 26, 2008 – If you live in the USA, a great dunk is something that the NBA has dibs on. But if you live in the UK then it means something totally different. Yes, we British love to dunk biscuits in our tea. Choice of dunker is a personal thing and many a heated debate has broken out over the hot drinks machine (http://www.myflavia.com/eu/en-GB/work/) as to which is best. Quite frankly, I think the subject should be treated like religion and politics and left well alone. People should be free to dunk whichever biscuit they choose into whichever drink they choose, wherever they want.

Unfortunately, The Tea Cosy, a café in Brighton, disagrees. It has a list of rules that it asks patrons to adhere to and, alongside 'blasphemy against any member of the royal family', dunking is off the cards. If you’re caught dunking in The Tea Cosy you’ll more than likely be asked to leave! The café made news last week because, for one day only, it opened it’s doors to dunkers in order to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease association (http://www.dunk-it.org/index.html). Lucky customers were allowed to come in and dunk in peace (well almost: Lembit Opik, the charity’s patron, was also there dunking the Cheeky girls into a bucket of tea – I’m not joking).

The good news for dunkers is that the idea does not seem to have caught on. The vast majority of us can happily dunk away in a café, at home or at our desks and not feel guilty. And that’s how it should be.

I’m off for a nice quiet cup of tea (and I’ll let you into a personal secret – mine’s a Twix).
