The Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation recently awarded a $25,000 grant for community outreach purposes to the UMass Dartmouth Foundation, which has chosen to use the grant to help support the University’s 2008 Freedom Festival.
Members of Bristol County Savings senior management team were on hand to present the check to UMass officials at a breakfast held earlier this month at the University. UMass Chancellor Jean F. MacCormack hailed the contribution in her remarks, noting, “This grant marks the beginning of a vibrant new relationship with Bristol County Savings Bank, which will aid us in our outreach to our region.”
The 2008 Freedom Festival will be held July 3 on the UMass Dartmouth campus and will feature a New Bedford Symphony Orchestra pops concert followed by fireworks. The Freedom Festival draws more than 20,000 residents from southeastern Massachusetts and northern Rhode Island to the campus to enjoy this annual Fourth of July celebration.
