Karuna releases IDefender to general public

Previously limited to Veterans of the U.S. military, KFLN has decided to make its powerful identity theft protection available to the general public.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Jun 25, 2008 – Salem, Oregon – Karuna Financial Logistics Network announces IDefender available to the civilian sector.  Previously limited to Veterans of the U.S. military, KFLN has decided to make its powerful identity theft protection available to the general public.  This move by KFLN is made more poignant by their follow up announcement that IDefender will now be given to any Veteran free of charge when signed up with any non-Veteran.

According to the FBI, identity theft is the number one crime in America for the seventh year in a row. Typically, an identity is stolen or used fraudulently every three seconds. Just a few years ago it was every 30 seconds. That speaks volumes about how serious a threat the crime is and how rapidly it is getting out of control.

The problem with identity theft is that once your identity has been stolen, it is stolen for the rest of your life and then some.  The misuse of your identity can continue even after your death causing problems for your family once you are gone. Gone but not forgotten is a term which definitely applies to identity theft.

Identity theft protection services, such as IDefender, can help with this problem.  For the most part, it is true that much of what these services offer you can do for yourself if you take the time to learn and put the effort into applying that knowledge. When asked about this, Dan Whitman, President of KFLN’s IDefender Division said, “You can fix your own car when it breaks down, but you would rather take it to a professional mechanic, right? The reason is you know the mechanic will get the job completed correctly the first time.  The same is true with IDefender.”

Point is identity theft is a very real threat.  According to the American Safety Council, approximately one in 23 people in America are victims of identity theft.  However, it should be noted that many victims don't report the crime to the authorities so collecting accurate data is difficult for any organization.  Additionally, most victims aren’t aware of the fact that they have become victims until it is too late.

When confronted with the fact that IDefender offers no million dollar guarantees or any guarantees for that matter, Whitman said, “First of all, there is no such thing as 100% protection.  We live in a free society.  This, unfortunately, allows criminals to take advantage of some law abiding citizens.  If the laws of this country ever change to make 100% identity theft protection possible, I will make another country my home as freedom will have perished here.  Second, if you wish to use an identity theft protection service, don't allow yourself to be distracted by the claims of million dollar guarantees. Those guarantees are merely gimmicks designed to lure customers. I have spoken with many people in the insurance industry and they agree unanimously, that kind of guarantee is without substance.”

So what does KFLN intend to offer in the way of monetary compensation to its clients?  “We are going to be teaming up with the American Safety Council in the near future to offer their identity theft insurance as part of our package,” says Whitman.

Asked about what IDefender does that others don’t do, Whitman replied, “There are some things that identity theft protection companies offer that are proprietary and we will not discuss with the public.” This is to be understood as the need to keep the identity thieves at bay is most important. “If everyone knew all of the tricks of the trade thieves would be able to figure out a way around them thus negating our services.”

That said, it should be noted that just about all ID theft protection companies offer the same service, with the differences being in the proprietary methods they use to keep ahead of identity thieves. Information about IDefender can be found on KFLN’s website, www.karunaservices.com.
