The Ausar Auset Society International, headquartered in New York
and founded by Shekhem Ur Shekhem Ra Un Nefer Amen I in 1973, is
celebrating its 35th Anniversary this year. The Ausar Auset Society
was established to provide a “social vehicle” for the descendants
of Africa in the Diaspora to apply African Spiritual Values in their daily
lives. On August 8-9, 2008 as part of the yearlong international
celebrations, the Washington, DC Region in conjunction with the 501(c)
non-profit organization, Association for Cultivation and Education (ACE),
will host a conference entitled “RebuildAfrica – Tomorrow’s Africa Today” at
100 Peabody St., NW, Washington DC 20011. This event will continue the
Ausar Auset tradition of giving back to the community and all proceeds will
go directly to ACE for distribution to the many Rebuilding activities that
both organizations are involved with.
Since 1982, Ausar Auset has been involved with the people of
Ghana seeking to help them “Rebuild” through several activities.
These activities have included but are not limited to, taking hundreds
of African Americans to Ghana (tourism is a significant revenue
stream)
and supplies, providing scholarships for children, construction and funding
for a new vocational school and construction of a library (ongoing).
The Rebuild Africa Conference will feature workshops, lectures as well as
significant dialogue with and from individuals and organizations engaged
in projects designed to Rebuild Africa in areas of health care improvement,
disease prevention, employment creation, environmental restoration, water
purification, food production, spiritual and cultural preservation, educational
opportunity expansion, and sustainable development. Ra Un Nefer Amen I,
King of Ausar Auset International and Hon D.D. will be one of our dynamic
speakers. We’ll also hear from Royalty from Africa in the personages of
Nana Okotor Kofi III, King of The Nkonya Traditional Area of the Volta Region
of Ghana and Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, King of Bawku Traditional Area
Ghana. Additionally, Father Godfrey Nzamujo, Founder and Director of the
Songhai Center in Benin West Africa, a true ‘gem’ of sustainable development
will give what is sure to be a rousing address.
Everyone is invited to attend this premier event at the
Kamit Institute for Magnificent Achievers (KIMA) Public Charter School at 100
Peabody St., NW Washington DC 20011.
