Wealth Masters held an exciting company initiative which allowed 4 children between the ages of 8-13 to win a trip to the Tracy McGrady Approach Basketball Camp. The kids had to write a one page essay stating why they should be selected to attend this years camp. The camp runs from June 23-27 2008 each child that was selected received round trip airfare, as well as room and board at the home of Kip Herriage, CEO of Wealth Masters International.
Our daughter wrote an essay telling about herself and why she should have the opportunity to attend. She sent it in herself and waited for the great news that she had been one of the 4 that had been chosen. She wrote the essay from her heart with an open and positive attitude. She never doubted that she wouldn't be picked. She even closed her essay "Thanks for choosing me". She receives her positive mindset and attitude from her environment and positive atmosphere that surrounds her daily life. Her excitement was indescribable when she heard the great news. As she jumped up and down laughing and cheering with happiness. I'm sure the neighbors were wondering what was going on with all the excitement.
We took our daughter to the airport today. Wow that was very overwhelming. Sending my baby to Texas by herself for a week was very hard, but so rewarding to her life. This opportunity is a once in a lifetime. and she is gaining so much more than learning to play the game by the pros. Like she stated in her essay, she don't know what life lessons she is about the learn but she is excited and ready to face the opportunity head on. And that put my heart and mind at peace. I know I did the right thing letting her go. I remember when we first was notified that she won. I called Kip and told him I was going with her. He welcomed me also in his home as his families guest. But he also asked me to allow her to seize this opportunity. I had to challenge myself. We both were given piece when Wealth Masters over delivered again, (they always do). We took her to SeaTac airport today. Wealth Masters not only paid her airfare but she flew 1st class, and had a personal escort (sure did ease my mind). She called me as soon as she landed, and wow, her excitement and happiness was higher then I have ever witnessed from her. She had fun on the plain, (except for the turbulence). Kip and his family are having a welcome cook-out swimming party at his house for all his small guest that are honored to attend this incredible camp. The week is beginning tomorrow and I'm excited to hear about each new days adventures.
Someone told me, "when asked what you look for in a friend most peoples response is a person who excepts me for who I am. Well the guy in the drive through of McDonald's excepts you for who you are. True friends and family, they don't except you for who you are, they challenge you to be better than you are, they see your potential and encourage you to use it to your fullest".
I have to thank Kip Herriage,Karl Bessey, and the staff of Wealth Masters for being our friends and family, Kip encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and grow as a mother and a person by not holding my daughter back by my own fears and insecurities and allowing her to grow and seize her opportunities in her life. Which also teaches me that I am a stronger person than I believed I was. I have grown to be a better person and mother, I am truly grateful for this opportunity I have been given as well.
