The Josiah Foundation based in Franklin, Tennessee is pleased to announce  The Deenah R. McCurry Education Scholarship has been established to assist dependents of military members who have received an injury resulting in a disability while serving in either Iraq or Afghanistan.

Therese Carrier, President of The Josiah Foundation says, “While government assistance is provided for disabled soldiers to further their education, a soldier may have a dependent in need of additional financial aid for his or her higher education.” Carrier adds, “The men and women who bravely defend our country should know there are a lot of Americans who appreciate not only the sacrifices they make, but the sacrifices their families make on our behalf.”

The Josiah Foundation has made available for the 2008 school year four $500 scholarships. The scholarships will be awarded to qualified dependents that meet the scholarship’s criteria. The scholarships are in honor of
Deenah R. McCurry, a resident of Unicoi County, Tennessee who was captured during World War II while serving in the Philippines. After being a prisoner of war for three years, he was executed.

The Josiah Foundation is committed to serving and assisting not only those in the military, but the many other Americans with special needs who may need a hand-up.
