Online sales of Daughter Denied at www.daughterdenied.com have been brisk. Those that purchase the book are always quick to compliment the great customer service and that the book they ordered arrived promptly and was packaged well. Alretha Thomas is a woman who won’t settle for anything less than totally pleasing her readers. “I’ll never take a single book sale for granted,” Thomas said. “I know that readers who buy my book are investing hard earned cash in a product—and want their money’s worth.” Apparently the novel is delivering and book clubs around the country are singing the praises of Daughter Denied.
“We recommend this book.” A Place of Our Own Book Club, Pennsylvania. “Awesome!!!” Ararojax Literary Group Inc., Florida. “…riveting and a superb.” Arc Book Club Inc., New York. “…an emotional roller coaster,” Asis Book Club, Virginia.
Thomas is always trying to do more for her readers. Instead of traveling abroad this summer she opted to spend time with book clubs in the Greater Los Angeles Area with her “Vacation with Alretha” appearances. Whenever a local book club of six or more members purchase Daughter Denied they’re automatically eligible to schedule a date when Alretha will visit a meeting of their book club. That’s right, Alretha is going to meet the people who have made Daughter Denied this summer’s must read novel! Imagine, a critically acclaimed author in your home, eating snacks, reading from her stunning debut novel Daughter Denied, enjoying people—and allowing people to enjoy her, too. Thomas was a one such event this past Saturday and stayed almost three hours. “I think I enjoyed myself even more than they did. The event was such a blessing.” Thomas admits to working her staff hard to please readers. Her staff knows the question she’ll most likely ask first in a staff meeting is, “What else came I do for my readers?” If you aren’t about service, you don’t want to work for this lady. She continues to put others first. “Daughter Denied has allowed me to make a small contribution to one of the most important issues in our country,” Thomas said. “Our country can only become greater when everyone embraces—and encourages literary. If Daughter Denied is helping just a little bit in that great effort I’m humbled.”
And yes, she’s proven herself as a role model. After a long, hard day at work she found the energy to speak to a class at Los Angeles Trade Technical College about the dynamics of novel writing. Thomas even traveled to two schools in her hometown of San Francisco to encourage the next generation of writers—spending an entire day with students speaking and answering questions. “It’s important that children understand that you can be a success regardless of where you are now,” she said. Recently Thomas held her “Let’s Write a Novel Workshop” for Los Angeles 6th and 7th graders at Orville Wright Middle School, touching about 125 students.
Daughter Denied is indeed a must read novel. Daughter Denied has become the choice of book clubs across the country because it’s backed by a lady who gives her all to support a stronger, more literate America.
