It’s Playtime with Canon’s New Entry Level Digital SLR Camera

Canon’s EOS 1000D is fun and easy to use for the first time digital SLR camera user

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Jun 22, 2008 – Affordable and feature packed, the Canon EOS 1000D digital SLR is destined to become the camera of choice for users seeking more creative control and superior image quality than offered in their digital compact camera.

Successor to the applauded EOS 400D, which set the benchmark in entry level digital SLR cameras, the new model is an exciting addition to Canon’s highly acclaimed EOS range (http://www.canon.com.au/eos).

“The EOS 1000D is a high-quality, feature-packed digital SLR that is fun and simple to use”, said Chris Macleod, Product Manager, digital SLR, Canon Australia. “It includes essential functions for users looking to take their photography to the next level and is an easy step up for compact digital camera users looking to upgrade."

The easy step up to DSLR photography
The inclusion of Live View Mode in Canon’s EOS 1000D, demonstrates Canon’s commitment to making the transition to digital SLR photography easy. Live View mode allows photographers to preview images in real time on the 2.5” inch LCD screen, just as they do on their compact digital camera. This ensures that users making their first time digital SLR purchase, can easily embrace the EOS 1000D.

Live View mode also allows the user to discover new angles and perspectives, enhancing their photography skills every step of the way.

For increased familiarity, the EOS 1000D uses a compact SD memory card for image storage, the same format as most compact digital cameras. This also allows users to easily interchange their memory card when seeking more creative control with their digital SLR.

Simple-to-use interface
Ensuring barriers to digital SLR photography are overcome for first time users, the EOS 1000D incorporates an easy-to-use interface, making it simple for users to navigate and explore key functions.

To ensure the user’s photography skills improve quickly, Canon has included easy-to-use functions such as Auto Lighting Optimizer for perfect brightness and contrast.

Compact and lightweight
Introducing Canon’s lightest digital SLR ever, the EOS 1000D body weighs only 450g and is a manageable size that is easy to take anywhere.

It’s playtime
The EOS 1000D is the ideal companion for users looking to explore fun and creative photography. With fast continuous shooting at 3.0 frames per second, basic and manual shooting modes and picture style modes, the EOS 1000D showcases built-in expertise to assist any photographer experimenting with new photographic techniques.

Canon’s entry level offering
With research indicating that 43% of people intending to buy a camera are considering a DSLR*, Canon is now delighted to offer two entry level digital SLRs for first time users. The EOS 1000D and EOS 450D are both accessible and feature packed, tailored to suit passionate first-time photographers’ creative needs.
