Clinton, Schumer Announce $6.5 Million in Transportation Funding for New York City

DOT Grants Will Support Improvements at JFK and LaGuardia Airports
 
June 21, 2008 - PRLog -- WASHINGTON, DC—Senators Charles E. Schumer and Hillary Rodham Clinton today announced $6,499,876 in U. S. Department of Transportation funding for New York City.  The DOT grant will be used to support improvements at John F. Kennedy International Airport and La Guardia Airport.

“New York’s Airports are invaluable to our nation’s transportation grid. In addition, they play a key economic role in our community. These funds are important in the fight to keep New York’s Airports safe and competitive. With the cost of flying at an all time high, this grant will help make each passengers’ experience both easier and safer,” said Senator Schumer.

“New York City’s airports are gateways to our nation, critical hubs for transportation, and vital economic resources for the community.  These investments will help ensure that JFK and La Guardia continue working safely and efficiently for passengers from New York, across the country and around the world,” Said Senator Clinton.

John F. Kennedy International Airport will receive two DOT grants totaling $4,239,876.  A grant of $2,700,000 will be used to extend Taxiway FB.  An additional grant of $1,539,876 will fund noise mitigation measure for nearby public buildings.  La Guardia Airport was awarded $2,260,000 for security enhancements.
