PRLog (Press Release) –
Jun 20, 2008 – NYC-based indie artist Gene-Manuel has launched what he calls a
Fan-Funded Revolution via http://www.the888project.com website. Taking the D.I.Y. idea to a more personal level,
The 888 Project looks to intimately involve the fans in the recording, releasing, and promoting of Gene-Manuel’
s sophomore solo effort, The Not Exactly Belonging.
The 888 Project offers the opportunity for fans to choose an “experience” that appeals to them, depending on the donation level they feel comfortable with. Ten dollars gets them a Digital Experience, a digital download of The Not Exactly Belonging before its release. The higher the donation amount, the more intimately involved in the process the fan can get. Donators to the $100 Euphoric Experience will not only receive a special 888 Project gift box from http://www.EuphoriaAtmospherics.com, but they’ll also become an Associate Producer on the record, giving their opinion on the cover image and first single choice. For the top-level donation of $5,000, Diamond Experience members will receive all the experiences that came before plus Gene-Manuel will perform for them in a private, in-house acoustic concert and write, record and include a song inspired by the fan on The Not Exactly Belonging release.
Every single donation, no matter how big or small, comes with a private User Name and Password. These are the keys to the exclusive sections of The 888 Project website, where fans will be able to follow the trajectory of the writing and recording of the cd, via videos and blogs posted by Gene-Manuel. Plus, they’ll get the chance to read private journal entries, view new photos and even become a featured fan in The 888 Project Revolutionaries photo page.
Gene-Manuel’s debut cd, Sophisticated Kink, was independently released in 2006. Zeitgeist wrote, “it’s a mad variety show of an album and to be commended for that.” The videos for “Countless Crowds” and “8 [Different Ways]” are available for viewing on YouTube and multiple on-line outlets.
