When workmen in London accidentally fractured a gas main, a nearby residential care home was left with no heating or hot water, and no indication when the problem would be resolved.
The duty engineer made a call to crossHire who immediately despatched an Oil Fired 250kw Portable Boiler, together with flexible hoses, pipe connections and electrical cables.
Commercial Director Ken Keating explained: "There was no time to carry out a site survey so we loaded the delivery vehicle with enough flexible hose to cover any eventuality. We also sent a separate vehicle loaded with portable oil filled radiators to provide immediate heat whilst the Mobile Boiler was installed."
The initial call to crossHire was placed at 2-30pm, by 5-30pm the same day crossHire were on site and the installation was underway.

The crossHire installation team quickly installed oil filled radiators into each of the resident bed rooms ensuring that they had some heating whilst the temporary boiler was installed.
crossHire engineers then worked through the night installing the Temporary Boiler, finally commissioning the unit in the early hours of the morning. "The boiler was on line before the residents woke up, this meant that the kitchen was functioning normally, showers and basins were working and the heating system was fully operational with the minimum disruption to the residents"
