SouthCoast Recovery recognizes the need for specialized drug and alcohol treatment programs and especially for a Prescription Drug Treatment program in response to the alarming number of people abusing prescription drugs nowadays; sadly, the largest majority of the people that are becoming addicted to prescription drugs are teens and nearly half of them have gotten the drugs for free from a relative or a friend. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse’s (NIDA) research report, Prescription Drugs: Abuse and Addiction, as of 2005 more teens had been offered prescription drugs than illicit drugs and these numbers continue doubling everyday. As a result of the increased access to prescription drugs to every facet of our communities, people of all ages and from all walks of life are finding themselves addicted to Opiods, Central Nervous System Depressants, as well as, Stimulants and over the past few years, SouthCoast Recovery has been treating prescription drug addiction more then ever before.
