Mad River Valley, VT – Vermont’s Mad River Valley is the place to visit over the next few weeks for culture and fun.  In addition to all the usual summer activities of golf, kayaking, biking, walking on the Long Trail, and much more, there are four special events coming up …

This weekend on June 20th & 21st the Green Mountain Opera Festival's fully staged and costumed production of La Traviata, starring world renowned opera performers and emerging artists, graces the nearby beautifully restored Barre Opera House stage.

On Saturday June 28th the hills are alive with the sounds of music when the Vermont Symphony Orchestra comes to the beautiful slopes of Lincoln Peak at Sugarbush Resort. From "boy meets girl" in Oklahoma to hot-blooded Carmen to the comic mismatching of A Midsummer Night's Dream, love conquers all in this program devoted to affairs of the heart. The performance concludes with a magnificent fireworks display accompanying Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture.

The Warren 4th of July Parade celebrates, for the 60th consecutive year, Independence Day with a wild, wacky, and wickedly fun parade, street dance, and family festivities! This parade is one of the largest 4th of July events in Vermont.

On July 11th & 12th Scottish Highland Games will be held in the Mad River Valley, showcasing both professional and amateur contestants, bedecked in their kilts, performing the traditional events such as throwing the stone and tossing the caber and bringing a touch of Scotland to the Valley.

The Mad River Valley comprises the towns of Warren, Waitsfield, Fayston and Moretown Vermont. For more information please contact Peter MacLaren at West Hill House at (802) 496-7162 or innkeepers@westhillbb.com or http://www.westhillbb.com .
