According to the Telegraph & Argus, a firm in Bradford believes it has boiler technology that can cut the CO2 emissions associated with a heating system by as much as 30 per cent.
It is reported that Shorts Industries' range of heaters and chillers use Italian-made gas-fired heat pumps that are based on designs registered at the US patent office around 1925.
Commenting on the systems, Shorts Industries' national sales manager, Eric Asquith, told the newspaper that the equipment was a reliable way for people to significantly reduce their energy use and carbon footprint.
"The heat pump consumes 35 per cent less energy than traditional condensing boilers," he said. "These units turn all efficiency, running cost and environmental arguments on their head."
More boilers are being sold due to an increased interest in making homes more energy-efficient, a recent article for the Shropshire Star reported.
