http://rosehilllodges.com won the Green Tourism Business Scheme’s prestigious Gold Award for their commitment to sustainable tourism. The five-star luxury eco lodges are sited in a tranquil woodland setting close to a superb beach on the north Cornish coast. The wooden lodges with green roofs are built locally from sustainable materials and their stylish design incorporates many green features such as recycled tiles, low-energy lighting and wood-burning stoves . The Green Tourism Business Scheme, which made the award, was looking for businesses that were actively engaged in reducing their impact on the environment and http://rosehilllodges.com met their rigorous criteria with a range of initiatives such as:
• Supporting a wide range of local craftsmen and suppliers, as well as employing local staff.
• Constructing the lodges from sustainable materials and equipping each one with its own recycling facilities.
• Landscaping sensitively to conserve wildlife habitats, including building a watercourse and planting a wide range of native trees, shrubs and flowering plants.
