FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Jun 17, 2008 – Omniac Education announced today that it will begin a scholarship-based test prep program at West Mesa High School in Fall 2008. The program’s goal is to assist low-income students with standardized testing, increasing the odds for West Mesa students to attend college. While several partners have already signed on with the program, they still seek additional financial support for this unique pilot program.

“We wanted to reach out to kids who normally would not be able to afford help like this,” said Joel Lee, Omniac’s Director of Marketing. “It’s important for all kids to have this kind of opportunity, not just kids who happen to come from upper-class environments. If we can give even one student the chance to go to college where no chance existed before, then the program will be a success.”

Omniac Education has been working for the last 30 years to bring quality private education resources to Albuquerque students, but this is the first time they have tried to match community funds with their results oriented programs. The pilot program will be offered to West Mesa juniors and seniors, and will teach strategies, tips, and tricks necessary to improving ACT scores. Traditionally, students that work with Omniac improve 2-3 points on their ACT and rate the program in the top percentile on evaluations and surveys.

Funding for the program will come from a combination of student fees, matching contributions from Omniac, and local business donations. Omniac Education is currently seeking local partners for this program and hopes to be able to provide enough funds in the Fall to provide tuition to 30 students. Any donation to the program is tax deductible.

"We are still actively looking for more partners on this project." stated Mark Truman, Executive Director of Omniac Education. "We think Albuquerque has great potential to reach out and help these students who are largely overlooked by the college system. In addition, we also know that businesses are looking for results oriented projects to support. If you've been looking for a place to dedicate resources that will show measurable results, look no further."
