The second, http://www.knockoutrat.org is the Knock Out Rat Consortium (KORC) website, sponsored by Transposagen and directed toward academic and pharmaceutical researchers,

Transposagen is dedicated to providing unique animal models of human diseases for drug discovery and development. The highlight of the KORC site is the Knock Out Rat Consortium Insertion Summary, a data base of available knockout rat models and the corresponding disrupted gene and phenotype if available. “Many pharmaceutical companies believe the rat is a better model than the mouse for human cardiovascular disease, diabetes, arthritis, and many autoimmune, neurological and behavioral disorders,” said Dr. Ostertag  “The KORC data base will help the pharmaceutical industry and academia identify the appropriate animal models to use for their drug discovery and development research.”
