FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Jun 15, 2008 – Px3, abbreviated for "Prix de la Photographie Paris," strives to promote the appreciation of photography, to discover emerging talent, and introduce photographers from around the world to the artistic community of Paris as well as the world at large.  Px3 is open to all, including professional, non-professional, and student photographers.

In its very successful second year, Px3 received thousands of extremely high-quality entries. Entries were judged by category: Advertising, Photojournalism, Book, Fine Art, Nature, and Portraiture, all which contain various sub-categories.

Both professional and non-professional photographers compete for Px3’s top award, the Photographer of the Year and 3,000 Euros.  Non-professional photographers compete for the Best New Talent award and 2,000 Euros.  In addition, Certificates of Excellence and Honorable Mentions are awarded in all categories.

The winner of the most coveted public recognition, the Px3 Photographer of the Year, is professional photographer Balazs Gardi of Budapest, Hungary.  Gardi is being recognized in particular for his photograph titled "The Valley."
The recipient of the Best New Talent Award is Ryan Schude of Los Angeles, California.  Schude is being awarded for the overall quality of submissions in several categories, although primarily for his entry titled "The Saturn."

The winning images from the annual Px3 competition as well as selected images from Px3’s Human Condition competition will be exhibited in Paris at the Acte 2 Galerie from 7-9 on June 27, 2008.  The Human Condition competition, which ran in conjunction with Px3, was created to document the wide spectrum of peoples' ways of life around the world; from rich to poor, from third world nations to western society, and from joyful to desolate.  In total, 51 photographs will be displayed.
