The 8 bands who will perform at the upcoming Rock’n’Register event will be playing for more than the purpose of encouraging their fans to register to vote.
Harford Community College’s upcoming voter registration drive will now incorporate voting for the top performing band into their event, to emphasize the influence that the voter has on decision making in contemporary America.
The band selection process continues, as over 50 bands from Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware and the DC/NOVA area have submitted music to be considered to be an event performer. These bands will be narrowed down into a field of 15-20 bands, and exposed to a “primary election” style vote, to determine which 8 bands will be invited to the event.
All proceeds from the September 13, 2008 event will be donated to a local non-profit organization, likely to be determined by another ballot at the event. Rock’n’Register is working with the Harford County Board of Elections in hope of organizing the voting for both top band and non-profit organization through and actual voting machine.
