Linward Appling has been named an honored member in government by Princeton Premier.

PRLog (Press Release) – Jun 09, 2008 – Linward Appling attended Wichita State University to earn his master’s degree in political science and health care administration and Coker College, South Carolina, for his Bachelor of Arts degree in business and social science.  He is recently retired from a distinguished career as the commissioner of Missouri Public Service Commission.  Linward has served in the Missouri government for more than three decades and held various executive positions. In 1993, he was appointed by Governor Mel Carnahan to serve as his deputy chief of staff for constituent services. In August 1993, he accepted the position of director of facilities management with the Office of Administration and in March 1995, he was appointed by Secretary of State, Bekki Cook as executive deputy secretary of state. In December 1999, he returned to the Office of Administration as special assistant to the commissioner and later returned as the director of facilities management. On April 6, 2004, he was appointed by Governor Bob Holden as one of five Commissioners to the Public Service Commission.  In that appointment, Linward was responsible for many diverse duties in addition to his primary responsibility of regulating the procedures and business of the state’s providers of natural gas, electric and water.  Prior to his career in Missouri government, Linward served in the United States Military where he served in some of the most prestigious and elite units in the Army. After earning the U.S. Army Legion of Merit for meritorious service and the Bronze Star Medal for service in Vietnam, he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.  Since his retirement, Linward has become available for public engagements and is a regular speaker at local high schools as well as various industry conferences.  He is also an accomplished author whose published book, Be Somebody - A Guide to Achieving Personal Success is soon to be followed by a second journalistic endeavor.  Additionally, Linward is an active philanthropist who supports his community, the Boys and Girls Clubs and several other charities that benefit education. His lifelong dream has always been to help others reach their goals and his achievements are an example of what you can do if you know what you want, work hard, believe in yourself and don’t quit!  When Linward is not engaged in any of his many altruistic undertakings, speaking at a conference or writing a book, he enjoys reading USAA and being with family.  

In acknowledgement of his exemplary career in government, Linward Appling is being included in the 2008/2009 Princeton Premier Registry where he will be listed among the most accomplished professionals of every industry from around the globe.
