After previously predicting Merrill’s woes a source from inside “Pollia Ventures” indicated that they are interested to see if Mr. John Thain can save the day at Merrill. The man will be in at the deep end that is for certain as the former Goldman Sacks executive takes his “CEO” position at Merrill Lynch.
However it is not a formality that this placement will go without a hitch and Mr. Thain will need more than a “charm offensive” to raise Merrill from its lackluster position, one wonders as do those at Pollia Ventures, to see if the eventual goal would be to make Merrill more like Goldman Sachs. A bit premature for such thoughts so early maybe, however J T did capably run the Ney York Stock Exchange before taking this new position at Merrill.
