Championship Football Club Brings In Junior Fitness Equipment To Enhance Community Training

Burnley Football Club has teamed up with innovative children’s fitness specialist Gymkids to help young children within the local Lancashire community get the fitness bug.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Jun 03, 2008 – Burnley Football Club has teamed up with innovative children’s fitness specialist Gymkids to help young children within the local Lancashire community get the fitness bug.

Children taking part in instruction programmes organised by the Burnley FC Community Sports Trust can now enjoy additional training techniques, with the pioneering Treadmill, Junior Rider, Rower and Bike – brought to the market by Gymkids – all being fully utilised within their gym circuits and football skills classes.

Participant satisfaction is the primary objective for both Burnley and Gymkids, with the concern surrounding the health of UK children an ever-present issue. “The kids seem to really enjoy this equipment and have lots of fun” explains Multi-Sports Coach Adele Hargreaves. “After the sessions that we have delivered so far the children have seemed very tired, because they have worked really hard”.

It is the ability to make children work hard while still achieving maximum enjoyment that originally attracted the Burnley FC Community Sports Trust staff to the Gymkids range, and that admiration has grown since seeing the apparatus in regular action.

“All staff here at BFC have made positive comments about this equipment and believe it is a fantastic idea to encourage children to get more active and become fitter, whilst still having fun” adds Hargreaves. “The Sports Trust is looking to continue using this Gymkids equipment and can hopefully invest in some more equipment soon”.

The affiliation of Burnley FC and Gymkids is just the kind of relationship the fitness equipment providers strive to be a part of. “We love to see our products being used by professional coaches in such positive surroundings and being sponsored by organizations as part of their community or social responsibility initiatives” states Gymkids Director of Educational Development, Rick Dalton. “If a similar reaction can be seen within additional community groups throughout the UK it may prove a vital improvement in the way children’s physical wellbeing is currently developed”.

The equipment, part of the Gymkids Key Stage 2 range, is aimed at taking children that step closer to adult-style fitness machines and help engender healthy, active habits that will last a lifetime. Training sessions are not just confined to Burnley’s sports centre, as the mobile nature of the product has allowed staff to conduct similar sessions within local schools and leisure centres.
