"Cluck" Earns its Feathers; Wins Accolades at Book Expo America

Three new awards bolster the rising popularity of the "best undead chicken novel of all time." Cluck: Murder Most Fowl, by Eric D Knapp, is its way to becoming a cult classic.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Jun 02, 2008 – An unexpected work of fiction earned heavy praise at this year's Book Expo America.  "Cluck: Murder Most Fowl," by Eric D Knapp, earned an Independent Publisher Book Award, an Odyssey "Indie Excellence" Award, and was a runner up for ForeWord Magazine's Book of The Year award.  Accolades and reviews are a reaction to the book's literary merit in the face of an entirely ridiculous premise: namely, the growth of a boy into a full-grown chicken exorcist, and the resulting conflict between good and evil, innocence and guilt, and (of course) man and zombie-chicken.  According to Odyssey Reviews, Cluck is "... one of the best books we’ve reviewed so far ... The story is brilliant, the writing unbelievably good."

Humor blogger DeadRooster, recently featured on CNN, agrees: "Cluck is extremely well-written and is story-telling at its best. Author Eric D. Knapp shows his skills by successfully blending the difficult combination of humor and horror," said William McCamment of DeadRooster (http://www.deadrooster.com).

Published independently with almost no budget, Cluck pushed the boundaries of "indie" publishing, creating not only a quality story, but a professional, fully illustrated book.  This effort, along with an industry shift towards the acceptance of independent publishing, is generating wide recognition for the book.  "Most independently produced books have trouble getting reviews," said author Eric D Knapp.  "I'm lucky in that 'Cluck' has received several, and all of them glowing.  Maybe it's the compelling nature of the premise: people just have to see for themselves what a book about zombie chickens is really all about."  A full list of reviews is available on the book's website, http://www.CluckTheBook.com

Future plans for Cluck include a serialized "podiobook," as well as an evolving presence within the blogosphere through the use of interactive media, online cartoons, and a growing list of rooster-related entertainment.  "Cluck is becoming a cult classic, but that doesn't mean I can't push for the next step and make it a phenomenon," said Knapp.

About Cluck:
Cluck is the story of a boy who is ripped away from a normal life by the same power that enables him to exorcise the spirits of undead poultry. Cluck is a humorous exploration of good versus evil; innocence versus guilt; and, of course, man versus chicken. Since its release, Cluck is fast becoming known in cult circles as the "best undead chicken novel of all time." Information at http://www.CluckTheBook.com.
