Andreas Yiasimi, former front man for world music band, The Constantia Brothers was moved by the elderly and disabled that took part in the historic protest that blocked the streets in scenes rarely witnessed since the second world war. "I knew immediately that I wanted to contribute something" said Andreas "It was done to great affect with Live Aid so I decided to launch a project called Post Aid. I have lived in the village with my family at Constantia Cottage Restaurant for over 28 years and the post office is a vital part of our community"
The song called 'Dads Army' was penned by Andreas and recorded in a 24 hour race against time at Ashwood Studios in Norwich. An official Post Aid My Space has been set up within the tight schedule ready to project the song to the world. With a catchy chorus and three verses Mr Yiasimi hopes the single might serve as a rallying cry for anti-closure protesters around the country. The song has been given away with absolutely no financial gain and can be downloaded free here http://www.myspace.com/
The chorus goes: "We are Dad's Army, you must be barmy, this post office is all we have to show. "You cannot take our shop away, we need it for a rainy day, it breaks my heart when you say it has to close." East Runton post office is one of the 53 branches in the country facing the axe under proposals by Post Office Ltd.
