World Renowed Dr. Claud Anderson of Powernomics To Be Keynote Speaker at Buy Black Weekend II

PR Log (Press Release)May 29, 2008 – DETROIT – The International Detroit Black Expo (IDBE) Buy Black Weekend II, Town Hall Meeting will kick off with Dr. Claud Anderson as keynote speaker on Friday, June 6 at 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Cobo Hall. This powerful gathering will set the stage for the weekend and aims to bring economic uplift and unity within the African-American community.  

Dr. Anderson is the president of Powernomics Corporation of America, a corporation dedicated to the restructuring and advancement of black-owned businesses within urban communities throughout the United States.  Nationally recognized as an influential intellect and best-selling author, he has popularized black history and continues to strive for social reform.

“Not only is Dr. Claud Anderson one of the most successful entrepreneurs in this country, he is also a dedicated advocate for economic empowerment within the African-American community and we are excited to have someone of his caliber speak at the Buy Black Town Hall Meeting,” said Ken Harris, IDBE Founder & CEO.

The panel consists of some of the most influential leaders and dignitaries of the black business community, including: Louis Green of the Michigan Minority Business Development Council; Vickie Lewis of the Detroit Black Chamber of Commerce; Dr. William Brooks of the African American Business Alliance; Leon Richardson of the National Association of Black Automotive Suppliers; Chancey Clein of Councilwoman Alberta Tinsley Talabi Office; W.R. Ross of the Booker T. Washington Business Association; and Errol Service of the African Caribbean Chamber of Commerce. Metro Detroiters are not only encouraged to attend this FREE community event but also to actively participate in the discussion topics, which are centrally focused on African-American empowerment, unity and entrepreneurship.  

The Town Hall Meeting is one of the many events scheduled between Friday, June 6 and Sunday, June 8. The Buy Black Weekend II theme is, “There is Power in the Black Dollar,” and activities include an invigorating mixture of education, entertainment and networking. In keeping with the spirit of African American empowerment, an impressive line-up of renowned speakers and presenters will assist, uplift and stimulate an estimated 70,000 attendees. Anticipated to be even bigger than last year’s successful turnout, Buy Black Weekend II is the ultimate experience for anyone in search of economic freedom, networking opportunities and access to the global marketplace.
