’67 Mustang Raises Money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation at the Derby Days Parade
Tour has raised more than $180,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation®
(DERBY, Kan., May 30, 2008) – The CARSTAR Super’Stang, a beautifully rebuilt 1967 Mustang, will join roughly 100 float entries and thousands of Derby Days celebrators at the 30th annual Derby Days Parade on May 30.
“I’m pretty excited about the parade this year. I haven’t been since I was seven years old,” said Pamela Dick, CARSTAR Wichita Business Group’s business development manager. “The entire community comes out for Derby Days, so it is a great event for us to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.”
The Super’Stang and its truck and trailer will head out to the Derby Days parade at 6:30 p.m. on May 30. The Derby Days Parade will run from the Derby High School to Derby City Hall. The Super’Stang will be on display throughout the entire weekend and the CARSTAR employees will be selling magnetic Wish Stars and Make-A-Wish bracelets to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Kansas.
“Anybody who throws candy is always a crowd favorite,” said Parade Chairman Tom Wise. “We get a lot of local businesses in this parade, and we are glad to add the Super’Stang to our parade this year.”
The CARSTAR Super’Stang, created by CARSTAR and the country’s leading restorer of Shelby Mustangs, Jeff Yergovich, is the centerpiece of a nationwide, 18-month fundraising tour to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The legendary 1967 prototype Ford Mustang will be sold at auction in January 2009 to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America. The Super’Stang has already raised more than $180,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and covered more than 35,000 miles.
