This year, the price of admission to the Sustainable Living Fair will offer a dynamic selection of events to participate in. For $5, people attending the Fair the weekend of September 20 – 21, can visit 200 different exhibitors, engage themselves in over 50 workshops and hear four prominent people speak on issues that concern them.
Ed Begley, Jr., actor and activist, will be speaking at the Sustainable Living Fair on Sunday, September 21st at 12pm. Turning up at Hollywood events on his bicycle, Begley has been considered a charismatic environmental leader in the Hollywood community for many years. He serves on many environmental coalition boards and has earned a number of awards from national environmental groups.
George Simeon, CSU alumnus, and founder of Organic Valley Family of Farms, will be speaking on Saturday, Septemeber 20th at 12pm. Under Siemon's leadership, Organic Valley has become the largest organic farmers' cooperative in North America. And as chair of the Organic Trade Association's Livestock Committee, Siemon was instrumental in developing effective national standards for organic certification, a process directed by the United States Department of Agriculture.
Rahima Baldwin Dancy, an internationally known parenting educator and Waldorf early childhood specialist, will be speaking on Saturday, September 20th at 2pm. Author of “You Are Your Child’s First Teacher,” she is also the founder and president of Informed Family Life, a nonprofit educational organization based in Boulder since 1977.
Kevin Danaher is a co-founder of Global Exchange, founder and Executive Co-Producer of the Green Festivals, and Executive Director of the Global Citizen Center. He was the founding Board Chair of TransFairUSA, the fair trade certifying agency for the United States. He will be speaking at the Sustainable Living Fair on Sunday, September 21st at 2pm.
The Fair also features specific areas that host workshops and provide further information on specific topics. The Eat Local Grow Local area features cooking demos and information from local producers. At the Craftsman’s Workshop, participants can learn traditional skills from metalsmithing to leather working. Planet Youth is an area focused on our future generations and the Natural Parenting Nook provides tips and answers to parents. Visiting the Zen Zone, provides alternative healthcare avenues and an excellent way to relax during the weekend.
Other workshops featured at the Fair include five extended workshops where participants pay an additional fee to work hands-on with the instructors. These workshop topics include building a straw-bale building, a homebrew wind turbine and vegetable engine conversion kits.

"With better health, more social connections, greater contact with nature, and a stronger understanding of what really matters, we can make a transition to a joyfully moderate way of life that delivers genuine happiness."
