Trillium Power And St. Lawrence College To Develop Offshore Wind Training

PRLog (Press Release) – May 28, 2008 – Toronto, Ontario – Trillium Power Wind Corporation (Trillium Power) announced today that it has completed a bilateral agreement with St. Lawrence College to establish a series of training and educational programs that will assist in the development of offshore and onshore wind developments in Canada.

Once these programs are in place, St. Lawrence College will be uniquely positioned as the only educational institution in North America to offer a comprehensive series of courses for maintaining offshore, near-shore and onshore wind developments.

“Today’s announcement demonstrates the enormous benefits in-store for the citizens of Ontario from the development of offshore wind in The Great Lakes,” said Trillium Power president and CEO John Kourtoff.

“We would like to thank Environment Minister John Gerretsen, Natural Resources Minister Donna Cansfield and the McGuinty government for connecting Trillium Power, St. Lawrence College and other parties over one year ago, and we look forward to their continued support for these state-of-the-art training programs here in Ontario.”

Don Young, Dean of Applied Sciences at St. Lawrence College, stated: “We have been working for over two years to develop this unique program in Ontario. Mr. Kourtoff added: “Offshore wind in The Great Lakes is far more powerful and consistent (due to its inherent characteristics) and therefore able to reliably meet the energy demands of Ontario residents and businesses. Offshore wind is highly cost-effective when compared to similar sized onshore wind projects, and more so when compared to non-renewable energy projects such as natural gas and others on a lifecycle basis.
