Walking into the Future: A Marathon of Community Choices

Old Colony Elderly Services to Hold Educational Conference on Tuesday, June 10th

DATELINE:  PLYMOUTH COUNTY AND AVON; EASTON AND STOUGHTON, MA.   Learn about valuable resources and services for elderly and disabled individuals by attending Old Colony Elderly Services’ educational conference on Tuesday, June 10th from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn, 195 Westgate Drive in Brockton.

Family caregivers, outreach workers, support group leaders, respite providers and other health and human services professionals are invited to attend the conference. Attendees will have the opportunity to network and learn about important new models and trends that are available to help elderly and disabled individuals remain in the community.

Wayne L. Westcott, Ph.D., CSCS, who is the Fitness Research Director at the South Shore YMCA in Quincy as well as author of more than 20 books on fitness and a recognized leading authority, will be the guest speaker at the event.  Dr. Westcott will give a presentation on “Strength Exercise in Wellness and Chronic Disease Prevention”.

There will be a number of exhibits on display offering information about programs and services that help seniors and disabled individuals.  The conference will also offer a panel discussion on innovative programs, approaches and services designed to build supportive communities.  Continental breakfast will be available and lunch will be served.  Family caregivers may attend the conference free of charge.
