Blues Farm Records will start its summer concert series tonight at the Do Drop In. On Avenue A in Portales, the Do Drop In has begun offering acoustic shows out back in the patio area. There is no cover charge for the shows and they have great sandwiches, desserts and drinks.
Blues Farm Records' artist Sansietch, widely known for his improvisational rock music, also has several albums of acoustic music, including Acoustic River and Fields Of Glory. Both CDs are out of print as of this writing, but the indie label has told us some remixing and mastering, as well as some re-recording, will see both CDs available again by July 2008. Sansietch is scheduled to kick off the show, which begins at 7 p.m., and perform at least a full hour of his original music.
Mark Kelley has recently released his debut CD on Blues Farm Records. The CD is available on his website, http://markkelley.webs.com, as well as the label website, http://bluesfarm.webs.com. Expected is a mixture of material from the self-titled CD as well as both new and old songs. Mark will also perform over an hour of original material, something Blues Farm Records is known for on its albums. Rumor also has it the two will perform several songs together as well.
Blues Farm Records has recently signed several indie artists and says it is committed to giving its fans a wide variety of good music. Look for Gary Gorence of Santa Fe to release a debut CD soon, and the label has said it may try to bring a show with all its artists together later this summer. Whether that would happen around Clovis or Santa Fe is not yet clear.
