SANTA CLAUS, IN-----A pair of coaster enthusiasts took their marital vows from 16 stories in the air this morning while seated on board The Voyage roller coaster at Holiday World Theme Park in Santa Claus, Indiana. The wedding ceremony was performed by an Elvis impersonator.
The groom, Jerry Fleming, 36, from Convoy, Ohio, and bride Leslie Baia, 34, of Protection, Kansas, met through the online match-making service eHarmony.com. One of their many “dimensions of compatibility”
The couple’s wedding party was seated in the “wedding train” which was stopped at the top of The Voyage’s lift hill, 160-feet above ground. Waiting for them at the top was Elvis impersonator Bruce Borders, who is also a member of the Indiana Legislature. Borders performed the wedding ceremony in a spangled jumpsuit, and then serenaded the couple with “(Can’t Help) Falling in Love” before joining them on the 1.2-mile thrill ride.
The Voyage was voted the #1 Wooden Roller Coaster on the Planet last year by the readers of Amusement Today magazine. It features three drops of 100 feet or more, plus five tunnels and three portions of track with 90-degree banked turns. The Voyage offers more “air-time”
