Each high school will be given three 2-part certificates each quarter. The schools in turn, will give half of each certificate to three qualifying students. Geeks-In-Route will then draw 1 certificate from each school, and award the holder of the certificate a new laptop.
All three of the students each quarter will be eligible to attend the year-end Walt Disney World trip, which is where the 2nd part of the certificate comes in. Students will only be eligible to attend if the principal of their high school signs off on the 2nd half of the certificate at the end of the year. This will insure that the students continue to maintain their grades throughout the entire year.
At the year-end trip, more students certificates will be drawn, and some pretty great prizes will be awarded, but Geeks-In-Route President, Austin Whitten says those prizes are a secret, and the students will have to waite and see for themselves.
"This program was designed to be used as a motivational tool by the schools to achieve the goals set for them each year. As each school has different areas that they need to improve in, we give them a lot of lead way to choose the winning criteria that best suits their needs. For example, some schools may want to improve their attendance levels, where as some schools may want to improve their overall GPAs. By leaving it up to them to come up with the winning criteria, they are able to better address those areas of deficiency" states Mr. Whitten.
When asked the question "How does a small company as Geeks-In-Route come up with the funding to do all of this" Mr. Whitten replied "part of it comes from Geeks-In-Route's revenue that is generated through doing jobs, and the other portion comes from local business sponsors that likewise, have a vested interest in the communities success and well being. As the students of our community are the future executives of our companies, it only makes since that we would all take an interest in helping as many of them be as successful as possible."
