FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)May 22, 2008 – One way to combat unsteady airline fuel costs and escalating baggage fees is to stay close to home and take a cruise.  Instead of reacting to higher costs of airline travel and scrapping your vacation plans discover the value of cruising.  Southern Californians have access to numerous ports with great cruising choices.  Cruise Holidays of Mission Viejo suggests taking advantage of the many opportunities available from the ports of Los Angeles, Long Beach, or San Diego.

"The 7-day Mexican Riviera cruise is our old standby," said Cruise Holidays of Mission Viejo's President, Carrie Bajak.  “Our customers are using the ship as the destination and enjoying every minute of it” added Bajak.  With the many options available on a cruise it is easy to see how cruisers can stretch their vacation dollars.  Cruise ship clients are rewarded with classic service, spacious accommodations, exceptional dining, and numerous entertainment choices – all for one price.  Compared to hotels or resort based vacations, cruising is a great financial decision.

If the 7-day Mexican Riviera cruise does not float your boat, consider sailing to Hawaii, to the Panama Canal, or a longer Pacific Coast itinerary.  Non-Summer months are best for deals and variety.  Take advantage of lower prices in the Fall when cruise ships are heading south from Alaska.  There are many ships and itineraries to choose from and the choices keep increasing as the Port of Los Angeles undergoes a major initiative to “green” the port.

The Port of Los Angeles is well under way to clean up its act and the cruise lines will need to comply.  "By the end of the year, we hope to have the facilities in place to plug in cruise ships, like in Alaska.  This eliminates one ton of emissions from the air each day. We have a goal on the percentage of ships that will plug in, but it won't be 100 percent for years" commented Theresa Adams Lopez , Director of Media Relations for the Port of Los Angeles

With stricter guidelines in place the cruise lines will need to retrofit older ships or send newer ships to the port.  The Port plans on building a new pier as well that will allow larger vessels to dock in deeper water.  Both of these improvements equate to new and fresher choices to Southern California residents.  Royal Caribbean will move the Monarch of the Sea to Port Canaveral Florida to do 3 and 4 day cruises.  In the Monarch’s place will be the Mariner of the Seas – an exciting addition to our menu of local cruise choices.

According to Royal Caribbean Inc., guests on Mariner of the Seas experience one of the most exciting cruise ships ever built. With a total length of 1,020 feet, a weight of 138,000 tons and a capacity to hold 3,114 passengers, Mariner of the Seas has something for everyone. Part of the Voyager class of cruise ships, which represents the highest public space-per-guest ratio in the cruise industry, this spectacular ship was designed with enhanced staterooms, expanded dining options and state-of-the-art recreational facilities like a rock-climbing wall, ice-skating rink and basketball court.

For those that have been putting off trying out a cruise, now is the time to book.  If you are interested in saving money and taking a great vacation, Cruise Holidays of Mission Viejo has a Special Report that they believe you will enjoy reading.  Send Cruise Holidays of Mission Viejo an email at cruise@cruisebuzz.net and they will be happy to send you a free copy.
