FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PRLog (Press Release) –
May 22, 2008 – Transmed is the sole distributors of P&G products in the above countries. The success of the first implementation at Jebel Ali Freezone and the improved accuracy and stock control have encouraged Transmed’s decision makers to initiate the second one at their most complex site in DIP.
The DIP site of Transmed is 15,000 sqm warehouse with over 14,000 pallet positions. The site receives about 300 daily orders with a varying number of lines reaching up to 250 for full trailer loads. This large outbound volume (around 30,000 cases per day) and high number of picks is complemented by a high inbound activity of about 20 full trailer loads on daily basis. Having mainly FMCG products, Transmed has opted for the design of a Forward Pick Area and a constant replenishment activity. The complexity of the operation presented rendered the Transmed go-live one of the largest to be implemented by SNS. The successful implementation of the Infor WMS solution was complemented by the success of the integration solution between the WMS and JD Edwards ERP. SNS collaborated with Versapose, a leading integration solution provider in India, in order to achieve near real-time updates between both systems. Alongside the software implementation, SNS’ team provided Transmed with functional consultancy by assisting them in establishing a full set of operational procedures to control the different processes at DIP based on internationally recognized warehousing best practices. More than 30 dynamic reports/queries were designed to provide supervisors and managers with full visibility on the Key Performance Indicators in order to determine improvement requirements in the operation. “The commitment that SNS revealed through the different stages of the project was a key to the success of this solution” declared Mr. Samir Harb, IT Manager at Transmed. “With their effective and well planned trainings, SNS consultants allowed us to take charge of the set of solution provided, and achieve higher accuracy and proper stock rotation in the warehouse. The go-live in particular meant long hours of work and late nights and SNS’ Consultants were always by our side.” “This project was one of the most challenging ones that SNS had to face mainly in terms of high inbound and outbound volumes, complexity of operations and diversity of products,” said Christian Zakarian, Project manager at SNS. “The collaboration of Transmed staff and managers was a crucial factor to the success of the implementation complemented by the dedication of SNS’ Consultants to provide only high quality services.” About Transmed Transmed was established in Lebanon in 1946 as a private shareholding Company. The Company's business objectives were clearly defined from the very beginning: Transmed was to be an organization fully dedicated to the sales and distribution of high quality consumer products. In this respect, the Company would represent leading multinationals with product lines and brands that addressed the needs of local consumers, offering excellent value for money and real consumer satisfaction as well as significant growth potential. Transmed is a regional sales, distribution and bottling organization, operating in four countries (Lebanon, UAE, Jordan, and Syria). About SPAN SPAN Group is a leading provider of supply network, warehouse and office solutions to companies operating in the Middle East region. # # # About SNS
